Jerusalem of course was the site of many historical events in Christianity, and many sites were founded there to commemorate these events. It is also where Jesus spent his last week on Earth.
Church of the Holy Sepulcher – This is the site believed to be where Jesus was crucified, buried and three days later rose from the dead. On the Via Dolorosa, where Jesus carried the cross on his last journey, we will see the Cenacle, where the Last Supper took place and where the ritual Mass associated with it was born. This is also where Jesus's prophecy of the destruction of the Temple Mount took place. Just outside the walls of the Old City, we will see Dormition of Mary; the Garden Tomb (Protestant); and the Mount of Olives, where Jesus was seized by the Romans for his trial.
